Series consists of amateur footage of the first annual Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, Ontario on 31 July 1948. It shows: long shot of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King at outdoor podium, speaking to crowd in what is his last public speech before his retirement; medium long shot of Mackenzie King looking at crowd from stage; another long shot of him at podium; several shots of women and girls in traditional Scots attire, in dance competition on outdoor stage; parade of Highland pipe and drum bands; and caber toss competition, 1 film reel (6 min, 20 s). The series also contains a newsreel report on the visit of William Lyon Mackenzie King to the Netherlands in 1947 and amateur footage of him in 1940, 2 film reels (ca. 3 min, 30 s). The series also includes speeches and talks by W.L.M. King and by Canadian and international personalities, 171 audio discs ( 20 h, 24 min); three original moulds made by RCA Victor Company Ltd, to produce shellac audio discs. These moulds record the carillon bells and a speech delivered by William Lyon Mackenzie King. The audio discs are also held by the National Archives, 3 audio discs (12 min). In addition, there are two silver audio recordings of King's 1 July 1927, sixtieth anniversary of Confederation speech.

Information additionnelle
The two silver audio recordings were received in 1950 from the esate of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Laurier House, Ottawa and transferred to the appropriate division in 1995.
