Introduction
In this unit, students will apply various modes of creative expression to write. The activities can be completed individually or consecutively and used with any selection of prose or poetry. The first two activities encourage students to explore writing styles and the last three instruct them on different ways to write about a personal landscape.
Learning Outcomes
Students will:
- explore the use of the senses in writing and the effects of reading aloud;
- understand how the development of a character is connected to their surroundings;
- use different perspectives to interpret their personal landscapes.
Concepts
Students will explore:
- the significance of perspective and point of view;
- Canada as a construction of multiple realities.
Learning Modifications
The following activities can be modified for cooperative groups or individual study. They are suitable for kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual/spatial, auditory, tactile, logical, linguistic/verbal learners.
