Haliburton's works have been part of the university's core collection since the library's founding. Haliburton's works have been purchased and donated. Following the establishment of a Special Collections Department in 1970, the collection has been maintained as a separate special collection. Description Thomas Chandler Haliburton was an influential nineteenth century Nova Scotian humourist, historian, and public figure. The collection is a representative collection of British, American, and Canadian first and later editions of Haliburton's works. It includes fifty of the estimated eighty published editions of The clockmaker and two holograph letters to Joseph Howe and one to a British politician. The collection also includes biographical, bibliographical, and critical works about Haliburton. The chronological emphasis is on nineteenth century publications. Language English.
